Jocelyn's journey into art...

Jocelyn Cordero holds certification in both Connecticut and Florida in art education, grades K-12 as well as additional Florida certification in Exceptional Student Education, grades K-12. Jocelyn was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut as one of four quadruplets at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1980. She discovered a passion for art at the age of three when she created her first painting!
Jocelyn's artistic training began at New Haven's Creative Art workshop, where she developed free hand drawing and painting skills. In high school, she took part in a high school program for fashion design at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Jocelyn continued to pursue studio art at the University of Connecticut, where she completed art history and studio courses in illustration, sculpture, watercolor, typography, photography, life figure drawing, still life drawing and painting. In 2002, she transferred closer to home to complete her studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design/Studio Art at Southern Connecticut State University in 2003.
In 2005, Jocelyn started her professional teaching career in Miami, Florida. During her time in Miami, she continued to further her education and recently received a Master of Science degree in Art Education in 2011. Jocelyn is eager to continue teaching and developing her art skills and knowledge whenever the opportunity presents itself. She has participated in Florida International University's 2010 art education study abroad program in France and looks forward to participating in other programs and professional development workshops that will benefit her skills as an art teacher and her students art experiences in the classroom.
